The Making of a Tally: How Silver Jack’s Coins Are Forged

Every coin begins the same way.

With a story.

At Silver Jack’s Tally, each design starts with a destination — a mountain town, a historic city, or a place where adventure lives in the landscape. From there, the process becomes something closer to storytelling than manufacturing.

Symbols are chosen carefully.

A mountain range that defines a skyline.
A legendary figure tied to the region’s lore.
Historic imagery that reflects the spirit of the place.

These elements are then shaped into a detailed design that captures both history and myth.

Once finalized, the artwork is transformed into a die used to strike the coins from solid metal. Under immense pressure, the design is pressed into the surface, giving the coin its crisp relief and intricate detail.

Finishes are then applied to bring out depth and contrast.

Raised elements catch the light while recessed sections create shadow, allowing the imagery to feel almost sculpted rather than stamped.

The result is something that feels substantial the moment you pick it up.

Heavy.

Durable.

Intentional.

Because a tally isn’t meant to be disposable.

It’s meant to endure — the same way the stories behind it have endured for generations.
