Coin Lore

Every Tally begins with a legend. Before metal is ever struck, we study the history, the myths, and the hard-earned stories of a place — then forge them into symbols that carry real meaning. These aren’t just designs; they’re stories cast in metal, drawn from mountain spirits, warrior legacies, and the enduring character of the land. Step into the lore below and discover what gives each coin its weight.

Denver: The Angels' Mistake

Denver: The Angels' Mistake

The old ones say Denver was never meant to be here. The angels were carrying a city across the sky, a shining jewel meant for some distant shore. But the mountains rose sharp and the winds howled cruel, and there — above the South Platte — their grip faltered. The city tumbled from their hands, striking the earth with a thunder that echoed through the Rockies. From that fall, Denver was born. The Coin of Denver keeps the memory. One side bears the angel's face, carved in solemn beauty, her wings stretched wide. The year 1858 marks when the city below was claimed, not by gold or men, but by her watchful gaze. Some say she stayed, bound by guilt, to guard what she had dropped. The other side is darker — the skull, cracked and hollow, mountains rising behind it. It is the death-mask of the ghost towns that surrounded Denver, once alive with gold fever, now nothing but dust. Upon its brow rests the faint outline of the city itself, as if carved into bone to remind Denver of the cost of its existence.
